Siport21 orders a new Ship Manoeuvring Simulation Center
With an investment more than one million euros, Siport21 has awarded Kongsberg Maritime Spain and with its partner Kongsberg Digital to deliver its future Ship Manoeuvring Simulation Center. The facility will be equipped with cutting-edge technology with the aim to simulate any scenario in a port area or navigation channel, different ship types and sizes, and under any possible meteorological conditions.
The new Simulation Center will comprise 2 full-mission K-Sim Navigation Class A Bridges with 270º viewing screens and a part-task K-Sim Navigation Class S Bridge. Also, the new Center will avail new instructor stations and debriefing rooms.
The simulators will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, consoles, hardware, visual models, and projection systems. The simulators will be able to work individually or simultaneously with multiple vessels in the same scenario. The upgraded facilities and the maximum certification by DNV (“A” Class) respond to the recent growing demand from relevant clients and worldwide projects.
In this way, the company will achieve more quality, responsiveness, and flexibility to the market. In addition, the new Simulation Center will allow Siport21 to face future challenges related to autonomous ships, and cloud connections with other simulation centers, as well as the introduction of virtual and augmented reality in the world of port manoeuvre simulation.
This paramount investment is part of its Strategic Plan, and the decision will launch Siport21 into a higher number of projects and training courses at an international level, with its corresponding growth in personnel. It is an important strategic decision that reaffirms the commitment to providing the best resources to the maritime port community.
